Blackjack
Its origins are somewhat vague. Many people believe that the Blackjack comes from the French casinos in the early 1700s where it was known as ‘vingt-et-un’ (’20 and 1).
The game became known as Blackjack because if a player held a Jack of spades and ace of spades as the first two cards, the player was paid out extra. So Jack is a vital card and Spades is black, the game was called Blackjack.
This game is played in the United States since the 1800s. However, between 1850 and 1910, gambling was legal in the United States until Nevada made it a felony to risk it. In 1931, re-legalized casino gambling in Nevada where Blackjack became the main games offered to players.
The objective of Blackjack can be as close to 21 points without being over 21 (bust). While numbered cards are worth their face value, face cards (jack, queen and king cards) 10 and worth every card is an ace worth either 1 or 11.
The person (player or dealer) whose total card value reaches as close as possible to 21 without exceeding 21 (bust) wins the game. A tie (push) results if both the player and the dealer get equal card values.
The game, follow these steps:
The player can bet.
The dealer deals two cards (usually up) to the player and a card himself.
The dealer deals a second card for himself and the place down.
The player is then asked if he wants another card (hit), or if he wants to stand.
A player may request as many hits as he wants as long as the total value of their card up to 21, and his bust.
If the player busts, the house (casino) wins.
If the player pauses for a full card, which is as close to 21 without busting, the dealer reveals his second card value.
If the value of the dealer’s second card gives him a Blackjack (total value of 21), and then the house (casino) wins. The dealer must keep drawing cards until the total value of 17 or more cards. If the dealer goes round 21, then the player wins. Anyone who comes close to 21 points may be without more than 21 (breast) is the winner.
Blackjack as popular today as it was back in the 1800s. This is by far the most board game played in the casino. This is mainly due to the fact that it is very easy to learn and play.
